Gorski Kotar (Mountain Region) is a plateau at an average height of 700-900 m from which it rises up to 1500 m above the sea level. It ascends steeply over Kvarner region, whilst the access from the continental direction is more gradual. Summers are short, fresh and very pleasant to enjoy outdoor activities. The moisture level in this region is abundant due to its rich forests creating a frequent morning mist.
